Most Americans support controversial Arizona law
Sixty-one percent of Americans said they favored the law in a new survey. And 69 percent of Americans said they wouldn't mind if police officers stopped them to ask for proof of their citizenship or legal rights to be in the country.
More than 8 in 10 Republicans and 54 percent of independents favor the law.
Many Democrats also supported the bill. Forty-six percent of Democrats said they favored the law for Arizona and 49 percent said they'd favor the law's passage in their own states. (Democrats are typically seen as more sympathetic to illegal immigrants.)
The McClatchy-Ipsos poll reflected similar findings to a recent Pew survey that found 73 percent of Americans approve of requiring people to verify their legal status and two-thirds support police detaining people who can't. Pew's survey of 994 adults also was conducted May 6-9.
Here is the report from my colleagues at McClatchy Newspaper on the polls.

What normal person is surprised about these numbers? Outside of DC, average Americans realize the seriousnesss of this problem. The problem is ILLEGAL immigration, not immigration per se. Wake up Washington!
In 1968, a year after Loving v. Virgina, 72% of Americans supported a ban on interracial marriage. It is easy for people to support discrimination.
This is why professional hate-mongers such as John Tanton targeted this group, this place and these laws to gin up support for their white-supremacist causes. Joe Arpiao created a fertile ground of unreasoned fear for F.A.I.R. to plunder for funding.
SB1070, according to filing by Tucson Police Officer Martin Escobar, cannot be applied in a race-neutral fashion. Addenda to the law that require it to be applied in a race-neutral manner are like addenda requiring me to fly around the room.
If we do not like the current immigration system, we need to demand that our elected representatives quit posing on the matter and get busy crafting comprehensive immigration reform.
We don't need immigration reform. We need to enforce our laws, period! People can come here legally, some choose to become criminals by breaking our laws. We welcome immigration, the correct way, by obeying our regulations. Why should we reward someone who has broken our laws? When I was a teenager in the 70's we were required to carry identification. What is the problem with knowing who you are and where you belong? I look hispanic I do not, repeat do not have any problem with being asked for ID. Only a criminal or someone who wants to hide their shady activity would have a problem. If you don't attempt to break the law, what's the big deal? If you happen to have an accident, wouldn't having ID be beneficial to all. Carry your ID, make sure you are here legally, obey the rules and you will be fine. Race has nothing to do with the immigration law unless a racist sees it that way. In other words the ones who see racism in this law are the racists. Stop looking at things by color, and life will get better for you. Being bitter only hurts you.
HEY PEREGRINO! IF OFFICER ESCOBAR
CAN'T DO HIS JOB HE SHOULD QUIT.
ARIZONA DOESN'T WANT TO END UP LIKE KALIFORNIA. ILLEGALS COST CA.
9 BILLION A YEAR IN SOCIAL SERVICES
THE STATE IS 30 BILLION IN THE HOLE AND SINKING.THE "B" ACTOR TURNED INTO A "B" GOV. THE BOYCOTT
IS A JOKE. SHERIFF JOE IS STILL HERE AND WE AREN'T GOING TO BE BULLIED BY A MOB OF ILLEGAL TRASH WAVING MEXICAN FLAGS.
Most Americans support Arizona law....in other news today, the world is not flat, and the sky is not falling.
ONLY IN CA. WOULD AN ASST.PRINCIPLE
BY THE NAME OF MIGUEL RODRIGUEZ TRY TO FORCE 5 STUDENTS TO REMOVE THEIR TEE-SHIRTS, THE SHIRTS HAD THE AMERICAN FLAG ON THEM SO THIS IGNORANT MORON REFERED TO THE SHIRTS AS BEING "INCENDIARY" ON "CINCO DE MAYO" OR AS HE CALLED IT "MEXICAN HERITAGE DAY". HE SAID THE SHIRTS WERE "OFFENSIVE" TO THE HISPANIC STUDENTS. THE NEXT DAY THE HISPANIC STUDENTS HAD A PROTEST MARCH. THEY WANTED THE 5 STUDENTS PUNISHED. ONLY IN CA. BEFORE THAT HAPPENS IN AZ. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT, REALLY BAD!
There have been many laws "most" Americans supported in the past and many that they would support in the future that were at face value racist, discriminatory, and misguided. Only in America could such a horrific violation of civil and individual liberties be passed with the tacit consent of the public. Just wait until officers detain a few American citizens and then hopefully reason and logic will prevail over xenophobia. Until then: BOYCOTT ARIZONA!
"survey that found 73 percent of Americans approve of requiring people to verify their legal status and two-thirds support police detaining people who can't"
I wonder what percent of those people carry proof of citizenship with them at all times, not just a drivers license or something that doesn't prove anything. Non-citizens are supposed to have their green cards with them anyway. But most of us citizens don't carry around our birth certificates, naturalization papers, or at least passports, at all times.
Are two thirds of the people saying they'd be glad to be detained by the police unless they have proof on their person, or are they assuming that the law would apply to everybody else, and not themselves?
What does it say to all the immigrants who sacrificed to come here legally, if we give the illegal aliens a break?
There is no good reason, absolutely no redeeming factor could excuse the act of someone sneaking into this country. That is a serious crime, and there should be no statute of limitations applied to such a serious offense.
If the illegals want to become legal, I favor letting them follow the same path as everyone else. They must leave and join the back of the line to get back in. If they were upstanding citizens while here, they should have no difficulty being admitted legally.
However, any amnesty program, or plan that only fines people, sends the world a signal that sneaking into the USA is a crime that carries little risk.
crazy.
Support of illegals is not much different than supporting child molesters serial rapists and tax cheats.
After all they are all just nameless faceless law breaking individuals.
The party that moves forward on amnesty is neutered.
The party that actually tries to oust the illegal invaders, and puts that fence up will have the reins for some time to come.
Those lunatics waving the mexican flag on American soil denouncing America back on the 5th need to all go right back home to the country they are most loyal too.
Go away ...America is for Americans regardless of your heritage, not the nationals of other countries.
Clearly Franco is totally supportive of the AZ law knowing full well America cannot be allowed to go third world and also that the drug dealer war is coming across the border plus Obama is doing nothing to stop the flood.
White Latino Hispanic Franco European heritage caucasoid race of the ruling class bourgeois is a closet conservative but obv has to pretend he is liberal to appease the elite liberal establishment.
He knows Spain nor any of the remnants of the great Universalist Roman Empire white Latinos would allow these red mongoloid Asians to flood in such massive numbers over there literally changing the culture of America and making it third world.
I want our government to enforce the laws that are already in place. It is illegal for people to cross the border into this country and set up housekeeping as though they are citizens of this country. Our laws say this is illegal. So then why does our government ignore the law and allow these people to continue living here as though they are citizens of this country? What example does this set for the people in our country who might be considering, will I be breaking the law if I do this that or the other thing? I support Arizona! And, Arizona, I'm up for relocating to your state if you need another resident! I hope North Carolina follows in their footsteps!
"The party that actually tries to oust the illegal invaders, and puts that fence up will have the reins for some time to come."
I'm interested in your plan to "oust the illegal invaders". How would you accomplish that? Just curious.
Just because people support it, doesn't mean it's right. A lot of people supported slavery also. All these Constitution lovers should go back and re-read what's actually in there, and they'd see the whole premise of this law is unconstitutional.
Having lived in Tucson years ago, I truly sympathize with the problems they have. This just isn't the way to go about it. And it's time the Federal Government get off their butts and come up with a policy, whether it costs them votes or not. Someone needs to make some tough decisions and quit worrying about their re-election.
I will not live in a "Papers Please" Nazi state. After Hispanics, who's next? YOU maybe?!
Arizona's option is about the only one left.
I support it one hundred percent.
Of course all those rounded up illegals can stay at your house before deportation if it makes you feel better.
ALL of our politicians have let us down ..
have to break some eggs to make an omelet, have to break some ground to build a house...
If we don't buck up now...it is all lost to the point even obi wan could not be our only hope.
My reaction... only 73%?
This problem can be fixed without deporting a single illegal alien. Mandatory E-verify for ALL employers combined with draconian penalties for those who evade E-verify and/or hire day laborers off the books.
They deport themselves.
"And 69 percent of Americans said they wouldn't mind if police officers stopped them to ask for proof of their citizenship or legal rights to be in the country."
As long as it's not them......Set that check point at the entrance to Quail Hollow Contry Club and check the members then see what they think......

that reminds me I better get out my illegal alien costume this halloween so I can offend as many illegals as possible
In Az what might appear to be profiling in reality will be simply upholding the law. I am going out on a limb here i know but i am going to venture that the vast majority of illegal immigrants in Az, NM, and Ca are brown skinned latinos. its just a guess though. It is not racist to call an illegal an illegal, peregrino is predictable in his diatribe however we are 40 yrs removed from Loving v Virginia, and considerably more diverse. Officer Escobar is actually correct but for the reason i note above, simply that it is men and women with brown skin and latino names who are in Az in mass ... wait for it ... illegally. Oh sure, you might bag the occasional Vietnamese migrant worker sneaking across with the help of a coyote but it won't be many. the other misnomer presented above and by our ultra divisive president is that people will be randomly stopped and searched, NOT TRUE! the law EXPLICITLY prohibits this practice
i will boycott any state or business that boycotts Az.
Peregrino, "Hispanic" is not a race, so the fact a recent NYT/WSJ poll showed that Hispanics overwhelmingly did not approve of the Arizona law while the vast majority of Americans (includng all races, genders, ethicities) DID support the law when the law was read verbatim shows this is an arrogance and ignorance issue on Spanish-speaking households, not "anti-racial" sentiment.
Regardless of intent or presumed purity of heart of illegal immigrants, they in fact BREAK THE LAW OF THE US by crossing the border. Henceforward any job taken, taxes avoided, Social secutiry number faked or stolen is ALSO a crime. The U.S. is a sovereign nation with rights to regulate its borders, just as Mexico forbids Guatemalans, Hondurans and others from Central America from illegally entering its borders.
It is NOT a human right to travel across national borders, or to be given a passport, nor is opportunity--that is an AMERICAN right. Illegals willfully scoff at all legit Americans and law-abiding citizens.
I'd argue there is plenty of hate speech and arrogance coming from anyone Hispanic who blindfully condemns a law outlawing illegal immigrants--it reeks of arrogance--since when is Mexican the ONLY source of illegals?
Of course most Americans support it because they probably feel that they would never be stopped. However, in the US Southwest, where a large section of the population is Hispanic (and by Hispanic I mean legal US citizens who have been in this country for generations), it is not so easy.
Though my parents and grandparents were born in Texas, being Mexican-American automatically makes me more susceptible to being stopped. I have nothing to hide nor have I ever committed any crimes. However, that does not mean I would be okay with being stopped and interrogated. Like someone else wrote, put a check point out near Quail Hollow Country Club, near South Park or in Ballantyne and let the cops just stop anyone. I guarantee you it would piss you off to have your time wasted, your citizenship questioned and your dignity robbed for no legal reason.
Well, I guess that law isn't as "controversial" as some would have us believe...
Some one mentioned earlier that marriage between the races was a conflict in its time and equated it to this situation.
I believe the marriage of a legal Hispanic and a legal resident of the United States is legal.
Oh wait they were trying to make this a civil rights issue? Oh which civil rights should apply ours or Mexico's?
As usual, the conservatives and the tea-party fringe are unable to comprehend the entirity of the situation.
And, as usual, they have discovered a convenient language to use (legal versus illegal) rather than admit that they are feeding into the xenophobia and racism of a sizeable segment of their supporters.
We get it.
You right-wingers love America (we on the left must hate it).
You are just trying to limit "illegal" immigration (we must want America to be overrun).
You are just about law and order (we are all anarchists).
As soon as you realize how stupid and small-minded these associations and attacks are then perhaps we could all sit down and have a reasonable discussion about immigration.
No wall, legislation, or crazed Arizona militia is going to stop those who have benefited very little from the neo-liberal experiment from trying to reach the shores of opulence and excess.
The law does nothing to target employers of illegal immigrants. If is just a lot of racist postering. Target employers of illegal immigrants and the problem corrects itself. WIth no jobs the Illegal immigrants will leave of their own accord. People just want to bash the immigrants because they are a helpless target.
as long as our borders are wide open this law is useless. we are going to deport the illegals who then are going to come right back into this country the same way they did before. we need to secure our borders first.
As usual, Mr. Ordonez distorts reality to feed his anti-American agenda.
THE ARIZONA LAW DOES NOT PERMIT CITIZENSHIP "CHECKPOINTS".
Let me repeat that.
THE ARIZONA LAW DOES NOT PERMIT CITIZENSHIP "CHECKPOINTS".
One more time, in a manner that MAYBE, just MAYBE, you'll understand (this is courtesy of Google so it might not be perfect):
LA LEY DE ARIZONA NO PERMITE QUE LA CIUDADANÍA "PUNTOS DE CONTROL".
The ONLY thing the Arizona law does is permit STATE AND LOCAL police to ENFORCE FEDERAL LAWS THAT THE FEDS ARE REFUSING TO ENFORCE within the SPECIFIC SITUATION of a police officer coming into contact with an individual under the normal course of his activity.
I know you can post responses here, Mr. Ordonez, so you need to post a response acknowledging that you ACTUALLY COMPREHEND the Arizona law and that your narrative was a distortion on your part.
"The Arizona law does not permit checkpoints"....
What in this article insinuated it did?
For crying out loud we all know this isn't about checkpoints. It's about giving police broad powers to demand papers from anyone they choose. And before you start spewing nonsense about how that would only happen if they had a reason to stop someone go talk to a police officer or a lawyer or anyone else even remotely associated with the criminal justice system and you will discover that "probable cause" is abut as easy to find as a redneck at an NRA conference.
You would only be stopped and interrogated if you were already doing something wrong.... therefore this crap about checking people going into Quail Hollow is stupid.
OK, everyone. The AZ law simply allows state and local officials to do what the federal officials are not doing and is already law. Why all the uproar for something that is already law at the federal level? Why is it such a big deal for a state to have a law that is the same as a current federal law?
69% of Americans support this law.
65% of Americans are white of non-hispanic origin.
Go figure.
so what does that say about the people who don't believe in upholding the law? only white people believe in going by the law of the land? bad post dude
so how long does it take to remove the abusive comments from this blog?
Eracism
There is a simple fix to all of this, go after the employers that hire these people, hit them with a fine of up to $25000 per violation for hiring these ILLEGALS!. This would stop this problem.
I hope that every American, regardless of where he lives, will stop and examine his conscience about this and other related incidents. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. All of us ought to have the right to be treated as he would wish to be treated, as one would wish his children to be treated, but this is not the case.
I know the proponents of this law say that the majority approves of this law, but the majority is not always right. Would women or non-whites have the vote if we listen to the majority of the day, would the non-whites have equal rights (and equal access to churches, housing, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, schools, colleges and yes water fountains) if we listen to the majority of the day? We all know the answer, a resounding, NO!
Today we are committed to a worldwide struggle to promote and protect the rights of all who wish to be free. In a time of domestic crisis men of good will and generosity should be able to unite regardless of party or politics and do what is right, not what is just popular with the majority. Some men comprehend discrimination by never have experiencing it in their lives, but the majority will only understand after it happens to them.
I don't understand why so many people are willing to throw away their basic rights. 61% of people support this outrageous law because they believe it affects someone else but not them. You've given the government power to search you on a whim.
Right now this very minute it is legal to stop me at a DUI checkpoint, license check and ask for my license and registration. Why do illegals think they are above the law? I am a Democrat and very liberal minded, however I expect all immigrants to respect me, my culture and my country. If my flag offends you please leave, don't start waving your flag and demanding me to respect you, earn my respect or shut up. I owe them nothing and need nothing from them, we have 15 million American people out of work, the labor force is bloated with cheap labor that is a drain on the USA.
"basic rights" do not overrule federal law... come to the country legally. Plain and simple. I'm more than happy for new people and new ideas to come join this country, but you must do it legally.
I have a family member who worked for a roofing company. He was laid off because they "didn't have enough work for him". But guess what... they now have more people working for them than before and they have to have people who can speak spanish with each group because the "new hires" cannot speak English. So you tell me, is this a good thing... Ask my nephew and his wife and family how they feel about the illegal aliens who now have his job.
Makes me ashamed to be an American :( And also inspires a question. How do you fight against a majority like this? What could we have done in the preliminary stages of apartheid in S. Africa or the Holocaust to oppose the movement? Whatever it is, we need to do it here and now.
Also, just FYI for those saying, "What's wrong with deporting illegal immigrants?" The answer is nothing -- the problem here is with the questioning of regular, law-abiding Americans based on racial profiling. No one should be alienated or made to carry "papers" in their own nation. And of course, you cannot visually tell the difference between an illegal and a legal immigrant.
IMO, the new ethnic studies ban in Arizona just proves beyond a doubt that these laws are, indeed, based in outright racism. Paranoid white folk (FYI, I am white) have decided that if they can't be the majority in numbers, they have to scramble for control SOMEHOW, and this is their technique.
I'm glad that L.A. has begun boycotting Arizona-based businesses. SIGN ME UP. As far as I'm concerned, that state ain't a state to me. So much for visiting the Grand Canyon.
First off put the military on our border, not Iraq's or Korea's!
Then the next time the illegal's feel like having protests in 70 cities waving their Mexican flags round them up, deport them and let's see them cross back over that militarized border.
Francisco Franco Bahamonde
AKA 'El Caudillo' (The Leader)
First off, a DUI check point is an event that is planned in advance and is 99% impartial. You roll down your window and the officer asks for your license and uses his sense of smell to see if you reek of alcohol. This is legal because in a perfect world there is no bias. Anyone can be arrested for being drunk regardless of race, creed, sex, or class.
The Arizona law is different in that it's targeted towards a certain race of people. The Arizona law might as well replace "illegal alien" with "mexican" and that's what makes the law such a problem. If humans in general were completely incapable of racism, this law would be fine. However, we hold our biases and any "illegal aliens" would really just be brown skinned people who speak spanish. It's really the same way that anyone who "looks muslim" are the people screened at the airport.
Giving away civil liberties under the pretense of "security" is a mistake that was first made under The Patriot Act and has continued since. "Conservatives" cry, "We need protection from domestic terror threats," but don't want to spend the money or pay the taxes to pay for these programs. "Liberals" are not willing to make the hard calls that you can't make everyone happy all the time.
Yet, EVEN IF we go through with this law, who is going to pay for this program? If the state is already broke, how is it going to afford to detain anyone they find "illegal." If they have to go to a holding area, we have to give them food and pay for their stay in a holding area until we can bus them back to the border (the buses and gas and employees all cost tax dollars), because the illegals won't magically disappear. So you'll pay to deport them multiple times since they're pretty good at getting across the border increasing spending even more. This law is like putting a band-aid on a sucking chest wound. It might look like a good idea at first that you're doing something but in the end you've really done nothing to help the situation.
As stated by a few other people in this thread, THE ONLY WAY to curb this problem is by giving breaks and incentives to businesses that are able to prove that they hire american citizens to offset their additional costs of verifiying citizenship (similar to drug test pre-screens).
The law is only "controversial" to the propagandist U.S. media, lapdogs to the Obama regime.
Too many things to address:
The current immigration system has such a low limit on legal immigration that 1992 family member applications from the Philippines are now being processed. Family and employment-based migration from Mexico has a 48 year backlog.
There is no realistic "legal way" for people to migrate from high-demand countries.
SB 1070 is not about immigration--it does nothing to secure the borders or reform the system. SB 1070 is about creating a class of laws that the Immigration Law Reform Institute (founded by John Tanton) can use to sue local governments and police agencies. Perhaps it is just a coincidence that ILRI lawyer Kris Kobach wrote the section of the law that provides for these lawsuits.
People cutting in line annoy me.
Why encourage such rudeness?
Throw the illegals back to the end of the line and let them apply for entry like the rest of the civilized world.
OK, so a few people have no problem being pulled over and showing their 'papers' because they already have them. I will accept this argument when they are pulled over to show their papers when the cops have a probable cause such as an Obama or palin bumper sticker, or a Christian fish, an NRA seal, etc. on thsir car. I'll accept thay they won't mind being stopped on the street to show their 'papers' because their hair is long, they have a confederate flag t-shirt on, they speak with a certain accent, etc. This law goes beyone illegal aliens people. this law singles out a certain democraphic, just like various segreation laws prior to the 60's. Then again, some people here would like us to go back to those police state days where white protestant males and their submissive wives ruled the country.

ENOUGH Non compliance with our law.
ATTN. ILLEGALS! WE HAVE ANOTHER NEW POLICY IN AZ. ILLEGALS CAN NOW GO TO WORK ON THE "CHAIN GANG" AND WE'LL GIVE THEM A LITTLE TIME OFF AND THEN DEPORT THEM. IF YOU MUST "SNEAK INTO THE U.S." GO TO THE CITIES THAT BOYCOTT AZ. WE WILL GET RID OF YOU "ONE WAY OR ANOTHER". ITS "OPEN SEASON" ON ILLEGALS IN AZ. WE ENFORCE ALL IMMIGRATION LAWS,AND THEN SOME!
To the uneducated who oppose the Arizona and Federal law on illegal immigration because it supposedly profiles based on ethniticty here is a news flash for you. 83%, yes 83% of those coming here into the US each year are of, wait for it, hispanic origin! So 8 out of 10 illegals are of hispanic origin, amazing. Another great stat for you, the largest illegal group, Mexicans account for 22 times the next largest illegal group which amazingly come from Canada! Mexicans account for 22 times more than the next largest illegal group. So if your illegal base is hispanic\Mexican, doesnt it make sense to go after those groups? It has nothing to do with profiling, it has everything to do with statistics and numbers. In Arizona, you go after who is breaking the law, in illegal immigration 83% of the perps are hispanics so why would you go after Slavaks or Asians?
BOYCOTT ARIZONA! WE LOVE IT! THE
ONLY PEOPLE CONCERNED ARE THE CRACKERS WHO HIRE THE "ILLEGALS".
THE BOYCOTT IS WORKING, THE ILLEGALS ARE LEAVING AZ. AND THE JOBS THEY HAD ARE DRYING UP. BEFORE ANY "ILLEGALS" CONSIDER AZ. BE AWARE, WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN,RAID THE COMPANY THAT HIRES YOU, JAIL YOU, AND DEPORT YOU. THATS WHATS WAITING FOR YOU IN AZ.
STAY SAFE, GO TO CA.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THAT GREAT AMERICAN SHERIFF JOE! THE MAN HAS "TRUE GRIT".
All the whining about "Mexicans" needing to go wait in line and come here legally is bogus - U.S. immigration rules prevent them from applying under the visa lottery. They have no legal options. Call up your members of congress (on both sides of the aisle) and ask them to increase the number of visas so we reduce the problem and secure our border.
The jerks who are saying that Hispanics should just deal with the suspension of our civil liberties are likely the same ones crying about health care reform being unconstitutional. Why aren't you pointing to the Constitution now? If you’re okay with what’s happening in Arizona, then you don't really love this country and what it stands for. You can't limit the amount of democracy entitled to one group of people based on the color of their skin; that is a basic tenant of American values.
No matter what the facts are, opponents are out to blame immigrants for all of society's social ills. Such blatant racism and xenophobia, along with racial profiling laws such as Arizona's, are not dissimilar to Eastern Europe in the early 1930s.
If they'd kick out all the illegals, I'd and proudly carry my US passport everywhere
INSIDE the US just as I do OUTSIDE the US (just in case some foreign official asks to see it)...
Arizona should deport "illegals" to any city or state who boycots Arizona for supporting the law.
Let the liberal whiners put their tax dollars where their mouths are...

MASS DEPORTATION OF ALL ILLEGALS IN THE STATE.CHILDREN WILL HAVE TO PROVE RESIDENCY BEFORE THEY ARE ALLOWED IN OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS.NO MORE EMERGENCY CARE FOR ILLEGALS.
ALL THIS AND MORE, ALL WE NEED IS A REPUBLICAN GOVENOR. THESE LAWS ARE COMING, AND OTHER STATES WILL FOLLOW. PEARCE SAYS ALL ILLEGALS COULD BE REMOVED FOR ABOUT 250 BILLION. THATS A BARGAIN! SB1070 WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING!

WE'RE FED UP WITH THE MARXIST IN THE WHITE HOUSE WHO ACTS "STUPIDLY" ON A DAILY BASIS! P.S. MR. OBUMA! I CAN'T FIND THAT WORD "STUPIDLY" IN THE DICTIONARY!
I am not sure why this is such a hot topic or surprise. The USA is for americans. There are proper channels to become a US citizen...Use them. I am not sure of any country that just lets individuals to relocate and be a part of their country and benefits illegally. Why should the USA. I support the Arizona Immigration Law.
So if the vast majority of Americans support the law, then democracy is working as it should. The people who are trying to revoke the law are the people acting undemocratic.
The illegal immigrants had to be stopped somehow before they turned Arizona in to a 3rd world cesspool like California has become because of its illegal immigrant problem.
If you let 2nd/3rd world peoples invade your 1st world nation they will eventually drag it down - history and plain common sense shows that.
