We reported today on the growth of human trafficking in the region. In response to the growth, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is creating a team of agents in Charlotte to focus on human trafficking, smuggling and exploitation issues. Here is a video agents put together on the issue and what people can do to help.
Notice the illegal alien connection??? How about we enforce currently existing immigration laws and secure our borders. Here's an idea that the vast majority of the American people have been shouting loud and clear to the brain dead stone deaf politicians and bureaucrats for years...conduct COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT!!!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately that video did give the impression that Human Trafficking only happens to illegal aliens. That is so not true and so wrong for people to keep portraying Human Trafficking that way. So many of our US and Canadian missing children, teens and young adults are the VICTIMS of Human Trafficking. Children, teens and young adults from all walks of life, poor to rich, bad families to good families it doesn't matter these Traffickers are grabbing and/or grooming whoever they want to traffic them for money.
ReplyDeleteLaw Enforcement needs to be better trained when picking up what they believe are prostitutes when in actuality they are Human Trafficking VICTIMS. Two such cases in Las Vegas one woman was found states away years later dead by dismemberment; the other case the young woman is still missing. Both are VICTIMS of Human Trafficking. Both came from good, good families. Both have mug shots where just a simple glance at the photo you can tell these aren't women who are willingly prostitutes, they aren't from that lifestyle. Law enforcement had them and should have determined if they needed to call home, made them feel safe and let them know the traffickers would not kill their families or them, they would be protected. Instead they charged them and sent them back out to the traffickers, one is dead, one is missing.
Wake up America you don't have to be from a Third World country to be the VICTIM of Human Trafficking.
This is a good video because it simply says that maybe someone we see and are familiar with is a victim of human trafficking and that we can help by calling a number.
ReplyDeleteZeezil, Wouldn't logic suggest that the victims of human trafficking would more readily step forward if we had comprehensive immigration reform? Pimps traffic women and children regardless of national origin, but international migration does make it easier for these predators isolate their victims.

Tell me , how would immigration reform do anything but encourage more illegal immigration?La Raza wants all illegals included in the health bill.This is the same La Raza that teaches "ethnic studies" in the Tucson schools. With pictures of "Che Guevara" hanging in the schoolrooms and Hispanic teachers being called "vendido" or sellouts because they refuse to teach the children to hate America. I didn't see anything in my post about open borders, but I certainly appreciate that you seem to have no argument against what I actually said, and so it is easier argue against the straw man you invent.
And while we are discussing straw men, who is this "La Raza" you keep referring to? Certainly you cannot be conflating the idea of "La Raza Cosmica" with the Raza Unida Party and the National Council of La Raza. That would be as silly as lumping together everyone who posts as "Anonymous."
The first of these refers to a book that argues that only after the Columbian Encounter were all of the "races" of the world in the same place at the same time, and thus created the new, cosmic race. I know that bursts the common trope about the term being racist, but that was a pretty fragile bubble in the first place.
The second, the RUP, was a small local political party that was formed in 1970 and ceased to exist in any meaningful way after garnering less than 2 percent of the votes in a local Texas election in 1972. Some more paranoid right wing sites still use that group's party platform to "prove" that wealthy, white, educated Christians are oppressed. Personally, I am not too frightened that the RUP is about to take over the country.
The third, the NCLR, draws its name, in part, from the spirit of the Chicano movement, which harkened to the Raza Cosmica ideals of inclusion and equality. The NCLR is a civil and economic rights organization. Civil rights (here comes another bubble) are not special rights. They are guaranteed to all citizens, and all others, under the 14th Amendment: "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." (emphasis added).
Of course, if you are getting your information from some website that boosts its traffic by making up outrageous boogeymen, I can understand your fear. It is my experience that faith beats fear every time.
You might want to check out some less terrified people, such as the NC Council of Churches (an ecumenical site), The Migration Information Source (a Catholic source), the United Church of Christ, or the United Methodist Church.
On the off chance you took my initial challenge, I was thinking: “This, too, is a beloved child of God, in whom He is well pleased.” That thought helps me stay grounded when dealing with these sorts of things. Good luck, and God bless you.
No peregrino...your arguement is baseless. You claim providing amnesty to illegals is going to make them 'feel better' and enable them to report crime. How stupid do you think a logical thinker is? First, giving amnesty to lawbreakers only facilitates more criminal activity. Second, much of the crime that you claim is unreported is committed by illegal themselves. So you want us to give them amnesty??? Yeah, let's invite them to play our system even more. Go cry on Nancy Pelosi's shoulder.
