Critics say Miss Oklahoma Morgan Elizabeth Woolard finished second in the Miss USA contest because of backlash over her answer supporting Arizona’s new immigration law.
"I'm a huge believer in states' rights. I think that's what's so wonderful about America," Woolard said. "So I think it's perfectly fine for Arizona to create that law."
Woolard said she opposes racial profiling.
Fans booed last night when Miss USA judge Oscar Nunez asked Woolard where she stood on the controversial new law that defines illegal immigration as trespassing and allows local law enforcement agencies to question people they suspect of being in the country illegally.
It was a flashback of last year’s controversy when Miss California, Carrie Prejean, finished second after answering a question about same-sex marriage, which she opposed.
As of 12:30 p.m. this afternoon, more than 90 percent of voters of an online Fox News poll felt Nunez, a star on “The Office,” sunk Woolard’s chances.
Woolard finished second to winner Rima Fakih of Michigan.

ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree with the above poster. Franco has a clear agenda with the selection of his news stories and obvious bias on what he does write. He is just one example of the many so-called 'jouranlists' that contribute to the falling readership of our nation's newspapers.

ReplyDeleteWe must understand that racism and bigotry is a 2 way street and always has been irrespective of liberals or minorities who allege it is only within the majority race or conservativism. Clearly this total hypocrisy but proves how biased these individuals are.
Techinically both candidates were supurb and equal in most all aspects but winning is winning and like in anything when things appear dead even it comes down to the slighest of edges or a matter of inches and split seconds such as closely contested sporting events.
They may have had to flip a coin on this one but the immigration AZ law answer was that edge or inch or split second that put the brunette in the winners circle.
Maybe they could have chosen 2 queens?
No complaints here but there hasnt been much backlash or anything close to the homosexual marriage issue 2 yrs ago in Cally.
Also this is not a race issue since both are white.

ReplyDeleteThis is why I don't pay attention to this show anymore. There was a time when it was a beauty contest, designed to entertain the viewer. Now, like just about every other TV program in existence today, it has devolved into a platform for someone's political agenda. And more often than not, it is the liberals - who claim to be more intelligent, tolerant and accepting of others than conservatives - that stack the deck against those who disagree with them, or oust them entirely.

She was blond, blue-eyed, beautiful and spoke the Queen's English. Upon hearing her confession (her residency terms stipulated that she could only work in the area of nursing) my only thought was "Oh, my, you naughty illegal immigrant. Won't more of you come?"

ReplyDeleteDo you realize that if a person who is not a citizen of Mexico is caught in Mexico without proper documentation stating they are there legally, they are sentenced to 2 years in Mexico's Federal Prison System. Upon release that person will be immediately deported. If they return and are caught a second time without proper documentation stating they are they legally, they will receive 10 years in Mexico's Federal Prison System. Again upon release they will be immediately deported.
Yet somehow you see AZ as an evil force here simply due to them passing a law stating ILLEGAL immigration is in fact against the law.

I think you are reading into this or trying to make it an issue when none is there. The Arab-American was a stunning, exotic ethnic beauty - -just as American as the perky little same old, same old blue-eyed blond, but miles above her in both the beauty and brains department. ReplyDeleteHow many have actually read the AZ law? Judging by not only these comments, but also Holder's response, not many that oppose he AZ have actually read the law. It is simply enforcing the existing federal law. Hell, if you're here on a work or student visa, you're required to carry your papers are all times. In fact, when you travel to just about every other country out there, you are required to carry your passport and/or travel visa on you at all times. Since we are trying to become the United States of West Europe, tell me how the AZ law is any different than the laws that are enforced throughout Europe, Asia and the rest of the world?

Her answer should have been that illegal immigration is okay and that AZ is wrong. Why would the AZ taxpayers care if the illegals are leaching off the system without paying anything in to it? The AZ taxpayers should suck it up and try to support as many illegals as possible. Free education, free lunches, free healthcare, etc. By god, I think the illegals have earned it. Hopefully, this will be an incentive for more of the illegal's family and friends to come over. I mean it's not like we don't have plenty of money. Who cares if the citizens taxes go up to support the growing demand on the system. We need to help as many of them as we can. It's our duty isn't it?

OKLAHOMA was the first to pass the toughest immigration law against ILLEGAL immigrants. It went into effect 11/01/2007... YES IN 2007! >>> It stops illegal immigrants from obtaining government IDs. It also makes it illegal for U.S. citizens to house, employ illegals. Many in Oklahoma said Latinos started leaving by the thousands since the law was passed in May 2007.
